Writing about diets and the relationship we have with food was a natural development of my journalism career, having spent years obsessing with food and 'watching my weight'.
Particularly, I've done considerable amounts of work for women's online magazine handbag.com. My most recent article on the subject was the one which resulted in my discovery of Beyond Chocolate, the book that inspired my blog site Chocolate and Beyond. I interviewed one of the book's author's, Sophie Boss, for a feature about society's obsession with being thin.
This article was called Slimming to win: why is weight loss our ultimate goal? and looked especially at why we equate slimness with success.
Another one of my personal favourites for handbag.com was Guilty Pleasures, which focused on why this love-hate relationship many women have with food has developed, and also Feeling fat? It's all in the mind'; about recent research claiming that how we feel in terms of our size isn't necessarily a true reflection of how we actually are. That sensation of being too fat (or too thin) could be in the mind.
I also enjoy writing about nutrition and eating healthily, and have done much work in this area, including with magazines such as WeightWatchers and Boost!, while on handbag.com, there are examples like: 'Five foods to introduce immediately' and 'Five foods to eliminate immediately'.
Some of my other handbag.com features include:
The healthy lunch rip-off
Turn your festive vices into virtues
Fact or fiction: French women don't get fat
Diet pills
