I set up ConnectMedia North West when I began freelancing because I felt to work in the media, whether freelance or staff, you shouldn't have to live in London to enjoy the benefits of meeting up with other people in your field. There was nothing going in Manchester though, so I decided to make it happen myself.
Whether you work in print, broadcast, PR, web media, or photography, hopefully you will gain something by attending.
The bi-monthly networking meetings - now going strong with regular guest speakers - are intended to be social events with a bit of business sprinkled in. A laugh and a gossip with other like-minded people is the main aim, while increasing opportunities and improving contacts is hoped to be a welcome spin-off.
